TESLA: disrupting the automobile industry…..!
Origin: in 2003, Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded Tesla Motors. About a year later Elon Musk heavily funded Tesla Motors , and he made himself CEO of the company, Elon Musk currently owns about 20-21% of the company, He later changed the name of the company’s name to Tesla.inc.
Elon muk had a vision for Tesla.inc, That one day every comon man could afford an all electric car, But to change that vision into a reality hard work, heavy investments and lot of time is needed. There are 3 steps of Elons plan to make Tesla a success.
1- Making a low volume and high cost car ( Tesla roadster ).
2- Making a medium volume and medium cost car ( Tesla Model S and Model X ).
3- Making a high volume and low cost car ( Tesla Model 3 ).
Today we will be reading about the first step of Elon’s Master plan,
TESLA ROADSTER.
Tesla Roadster was launched in 2008 and was an expensive and low volume car, They sold about 2,450 Roadsters in over 30 countries, Tesla Roadster is as all electric car in the body of a Lotus, It was the first all electric car to cross over 200 miles in a single charge, and it was awarded for the best design, it was priced at $101,500 for the base model.
This car proved that electric cars are not boring and stupid looking machines but could be very efficient and sexy at the same time, after the success of the Tesla Roadster, Tesla.inc received funding from various companies and big entrepreneur’s like Larry Page and, Sergey Brin, the founder’s of Google. After this Tesla started to grow and there came more cars but this is it for today.
TESLA: Model S & Model X
Model S:
With Model S, Tesla took on the luxury sedan cars, altough technically it is a hatchback. The Model S is awarded the safest car and it passed with a perfect 5.0 socre, which is very rare. Tesla Model S is the most popular electric car after nissan leaf.
So, The Model S is good but what makes it best is its gorgeous body and crazy fast motors, The Tesla Model S P100D with the updated “Ludicrous + Mode” can reach 0-60 mph in 2.28 sec, which makes it the fastest accelerating electric car. It costs $69,200 for the base model and goes upto $141,200 for the highest model.
The thing that makes this car so attractive is its autopilot mode, which means this car acn drive by itself, but this feature is still in beta so it cauld take some time for a car to completely take over the drivers seat, But the CEO of Tesla.inc Elon Musk assures that in nearby future the autopilot would be more saefer than humans,He states :
Right now the autopilot is good, but it will get better over time. That’s just some of the amzing points about the Moodel S.
Model X:
The Model X is Tesla’s take on the global SUV market, half the worls wanted an sedan and other half wanted an SUV. The Model X is almost same as the Model S but just bigger, same as Model S this car also passed the safety test with a perfect 5.0 score. The main attraction of this car is its falcon doors.
The Model X can easily take 7 people up the hill, the P100D Model X could go 0-60 mph in 2.9 sec and could travel 289 mile on a single charge. It’s base model cost $83,700 and goes up to $146,200 for the highest model. There are a few complexities with the Falcon door’s but Tesla assures that they will be solved with time.Model X also has a wide windshield which gives an amazing panoramic view.
TESLA Model 3: The final step.
Tesla recently unveiled The Model 3 in early 2017 but a few days ago Tesla CEO Elon Musk gave away the first few model 3 cars at the Giga Factory, They also stated that the production will increase up to 20,000 cars per month from December.
The price of Model 3 starts from $35,000 before incentives for the base model and goes upto $44,000 for the top model. This car can reach 0-100 kmh in 5.1 sec and has a range of 310 miles . Model 3 comes with all the hardware necessary for fully autonomous driving, There is only on 15″ lcd display which shows all the info like speed, GPS etc.
This car is 25% smaller then Model S but from the inside somehow it feels bigger.
This is the car which can revolutionize the electric vehicle, some people define this as “The iphone moment for electric vehicles”. You can get cheaper gas car in the market but this is the best car in its price range, So are you planning on buying one, coz if you are than you better get it booked right now, as Elon said, if you want a Model 3 before 2019 then you would have to book one as early as possible.
